Steven P mentioned in a review: "Classic Vacations is a scam. I booked Travel using American Express which contracts this company. I booked a hotel, ride to and from the airport and insurance in case we had to cancel with in 9 days of the departure date for Cancun Mexico. We paid the deposit in May and then paid the full amount in August. Two weeks later the US issued a travel warning for Cancun. We called and cancelled in September, 75 days before the departure date. The issued a refund but kept the $382 we paid for insurance (all we booked was hotel and any hotel would let you cancel with in 75 days with no fee). This is robbery, this is not how it was explained to me when booked with Alan Morris the rep. When i tried to dispute they hid behind the fine print of their invoice that says insurance is never refundable for any reason. I never signed agreeing to their terms of service. The fact that they can get away with this is unreal, they are getting money for a service that was never provided or even active."

You will be required to put in a lot of hours which will include 20+ hours of study time outside of work unpaid. The pay is very low and the commission plan is not disclosed until the third week of training. The system you are trained on is dated and full of errors that you are required to catch and are held responsible for. If you are looking for a company that may require a great deal of work but in return you are rewarded for your contribution, this is not the company for you. Hours are not guaranteed. If calls are slow you will get sent home. And there is more. Unfortunately."

Do not call in sick unless you have a doctors note or your employment will be terminated. It will cost you more to see the doctor than you will make in day or two in this company. A few unprofessional supervisors who you will question how they ever got into the role."

It wouldn't shock me to hear that upper management sits in their overly long weekly meetings just to ask themselves “how do we pay our reservation agents even less money?” They raise the sales goals every chance they get. This if of course a projection based on “last year’s numbers,” but since the majority of the wealth is spread between a special, elite, group good luck with that. Think you can rack up at a bare minimum $152,000 every two weeks in vacations? If so, go for it. Keep in mind that during “busy” season this number will be raised, there will be mandatory overtime of 30 min – 1 hour that gets factored into your sales per hour so on top of a higher goal you have to make even more, and you will not be allowed to even request time off for the first quarter. That $15 an hour base pay you’re getting now won’t be there forever. Once you’re on the floor for a few months they drop it to minimum wage, and since this company could care less if you can afford to live or eat they even try to skirt around even paying that! Once San Jose raised the minimum wage to $10 an hour, and let’s face it even that doesn't really cover things, Classic thought that was unfair. So if you do not make your commission or other incentives you will get your $10 an hour, basically $800 for two weeks. Because Classic is only responsible to pay you $10 an hour, if your incentives on top of $8 an hour equal $800 they drop your base pay to $8. So yes, if you make an additional $160 your pay gets dropped. There’s very little payout for all the hard work that you put in. This job will work you to death. Literally to the death. They tell you if you work hard, you may get to leave Reservations for a higher paying department. If working hard doesn't pay off I suggest joining the softball team. If you need to kick it up a notch sleeping with someone in upper management or one of their family members… that seems to have worked well for people in the past."

Some team members on this particular team are definitely very side eyesies like they won't give out honest response. The location of the work place is just okay too. Get used to working next to loudness. One team member on the team was very friendly to get along with, but everyone has their own agenda. Didn't say the last senior employee that was supposed to help was going to to shifting elsewhere, so you may be left on your own to do everything with no documentation or help. The team themselves don't know what's going on sometimes. Can see why the last senior left the team."

Current Employee - Product Management says"I have been working at Classic Vacations full-time for more than 3 years Cons: Product Team- Very stale and toxic. A lot of back stabbing, particularly with the manager from Mexico- She manages to negatively talk about her colleagues but is the sweetest and nicest person when it comes to her superiors and the executives (she has them fooled). It doesn't matter who it is-new members in the team she always seems to have something negative to say, she is always crying and emotional but it seems to work for her, but sadly she will retire here.. Aside from her the product team attitude is very stagnant and why not very little is expected from them and when they do decide to leave it is only due to retirement. There have been a lot of changes that I have seen in management since joining this team but its not enough, they are only bandaids. Operations- Denis a brilliant leader has taken over and has this running smoothly now. There are obviously kinks in this department but you will always have this especially when you are constantly dealing with contracts, inventory, and promotions. Reservations- the bread and butter of the company. Good people and just doing their job but the managers in charge of them definitely have the upper hand and treat them like work horses Marketing- I would say this is the one department that has evolved through the years. Bari took a lot of heat in the beginning but with her leadership skills for the department it really has gotten better."
